This week has been all about finding a job in Sydney so that I can sustain my life as a traveller. However, its turning out to be WAY harder than I ever imagined. I had one great interview with the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation earlier this week and I thought that it went very well. Their events are exciting and innovative and the team that I would be working with seemed incredible. My only fear of not being offered the job was my lack of permanent residency in Oz. I finally heard back from them yesterday and turns out they wanted to give me the job, they loved me, the girls who interviewed me thought I would be a great fit, but that it would be too difficult to employ me in the long term. It was so great to hear the wonderful feedback, but disappointing about the visa situation.
So back to the grind of applying to retail stores and restaurants - kinda getting worried though. Its slim pickings here to begin with, let alone when these stores can only keep me employed for six months. I am going to give it one more week and if nothing is looking promising than I have decided to cut my losses, see a few more things in Oz and head back home. I think the responsible thing to do is to return home with some money left in my bank account just in case I can’t find employment in Canada either. I want to be able to pay my bills and not have to worry about everything once I return to reality. Its makes me kinda sad and kinda feeling like I haven’t succeeded in travelling or staying away as long as I thought, but really didn’t expect job hunting to be so hard. should know my fate by the end of next week.
other than that, life is still good! The weather has been a bit sad here this week, but im staying optimistic that it will return to the sunny weather I much prefer. However, if its heading into an early fall, it will be an easier decision to go.
I have met a nice new friend in my hostel who I have decided to do a bit of travel with. She is heading off early next week for Melbourne and then onto the West Coast but in about a months time I am going to meet up with her in Cairns. Im pretty pumped, b/c I didn’t want to have to travel up there alone and thought it would be way more fun to see the Great Barrier Reef with someone else. She is from England and is super fun!
well guess that’s all for now. have to go check back into my hostel and find my new room assignment.

Good luck Girly! You can do it! Don’t give up yet! But make sure if you do head home.. you hit Bali first.. OR wait til I move back to Asia and we’ll go together!
